As part of this month’s theme of subtlety & nuance, I’ve wanted to spend some time reflecting on the practical application of this seemingly lofty notion. Subtlety and nuance, by their very nature, being rather intangible, often difficult to capture either in word or deed. Primed and ready for poetic exploration. Particularly because poetry often settles into territory that balks at being over-defined and over-worked, leans into the potency of the unknowable and unseeable.
However, I love poetry because it can equally act as gateway into the practical. Tickling our senses with the ineffable while at the same time leaving us with questions that beg to be brought into concrete form. Unspoken breadcrumbs tucked between lines of poetry leading us toward something that can be felt, tasted, lived in the material world.
